A Face Cord vs. a Cord

Firewood Calculations are as follows.

We are often asked for a "Cord" of wood and we find the caller is really seeking a Face Cord. Here are the specifics on the definitions of the terms used to describe what you would be purchasing. All references to cubic feet are referring to tightly stacked dimensions.

Cord of wood - 4 x 4 x 8 - 128 cf

Approximately = 825 pieces of split firewood 16" 

Face Cord or Rick - 1.5 x 4 x 8 - 48 cf

Approximately = 275 pieces of split firewood 16"

Our firewood comes from a variety of sources. Many times we use firewood from our lot clearing and a removal projects. Rest assured, the wood is safe to burn as we age the wood a minimum of 18 to 24 months before we sell it as firewood.

The firewood consists of mixed hardwoods, Oak, Maple and Hickory and there is a small fee for stacking ~ contact us for details. We also have Cherry and Birch available. With quarantines being placed on the movement of firewood due to the Emerald Ash Borer infestation, prices are determined seasonally.

Trees “R” Us, Inc. provides dry hardwood mixes ready to burn long hours on those cold nights. We deliver firewood by the face cord and by the full cord for your convenience for FREE within 20 miles of our Wauconda office! 

Our staff will drop the wood for you to stack or we can stack the wood at the location of your choice for an additional charge.
